Talk the Talk

Here is a list of some frequently used acronyms/abbreviations that are used in the couponing world. I will often use these in my posts.  Once you get familiar with the terms, they will become like second nature (I promise).  If you know of anymore that I can add to the list please do let me know.

B&M – Brick & Mortar, as opposed to an online store

Blinkies – In-store coupon dispenser near product, usually from red blinking box

BOGO – Buy One Get One

BOGO or B1G1 – Buy one get one free

Catalina – coupon that prints out of the register at the end of the purchase

DND – Do Not Double (the coupon is not supposed to be doubled however if the coupon’s UPC starts with a 5 it can be double if the store allow it)

Double coupon- coupon that a grocery store doubles in value

ECB – Extra Care Bucks (CVS)O

GM – General Mills  – insert in Sunday Paper

HBA – The health and beauty aid section in the grocery store

HDA – Hot Deal Alert or Home Delivered Ad

HT or HgT- Hang tags for refunds or coupons hanging on a product

ISO – In search of

MFG – Manufacturer

MFR – Manufacturer

MIR – Mail In Rebate

NED – No expiration date

NT WT – net weight

OAS – a coupon that is good on one purchase, any size

OOP – Out of Pocket

OSI – On a single item

OYNO – Off your next order

P&G – Procter and Gamble insert in Sunday Paper

Peelie – Coupon found on outside of product

POP – proof of purchase

PP – purchase price

RP- Red Plum – insert in Sunday Paper

RR – Register Reward

SMP – specially marked packages

SS – Smart Source – insert in Sunday Paper

SS – Sunday supplement coupons

Tear pad – A pad of coupons found hanging from a store shelf or display

TMF – Try Me Free

Triple coupon – a coupon that a grocery store triples in value

UPC – Universal Product Code

WSL – while supplies last

WYB – when you buy

YMMV – Your Mileage May Vary (meaning store acceptance depends on the manager)

Ok thanks so much for this cheat sheet. I will save this to refer to and study my couponing terms. When is the first quiz? LOL.
